Wooo Hooo!! Happy to hear you arrived well and found somewhere to stay! No thanks to the Doctor Who style Police Boxes… I can’t wait to see some pictures of those if you get a chance but I’d like to see some examples of advertising even more! I noticed it around you in the video and your comments made me wonder how pervasive it might actually be!
i can fully understand 13 hours in plane. While the most I’ve ever done was 11, you just end up feeling like one giant germ with human appendages, squeezed into a space akin to that of a school bus… but at least then the vehicle was a stylish yellow and the threat of imminent death not quite as severe.
THEY LABEL EVERYTHING… I knew i loved the Japanese for many… many reasons…
But the whole CD thing??? strange.. i just wouldn’t have guessed they’d still be so popular there… nice shades too
Holy Moly…we just read on AP about the quake. 6.8 is very severe. AP say’s 91 injured, landslides and power outages 280 miles northeast of Toyko. Dave experienced 5.7 in L.A. and found it terrifying. What an adventure you’re on. And that experience was cheaper than the Ray Bans!.
Ok, so I’ve been doing some research for you over here looking for cheap beers. There’s a place by you that’s 200 yen a beer. It’s known as the 200 yen bar. And the best part is, its in Shibuya!
Tasu Ichi, a small standing bar way back at the end of Center-Gai on the street between Wendy’s and Outback Steakhouse (feels really weird saying that knowing I’m talking about a foreign country). Any how, apparently, cheap beers.
I’ll keep the search up for cheap beers and we’ll see what we can find in and around Tokyo. It’s more expensive, but if you wanted to, you could always check out the nightlife over in Roppongi. Good bars there too apparently.

I had read about the CD thing here before arriving, so I was expecting it when I got here, but it did throw me for a loop too.
One imagines places like Tokyo have a pervasive lust for the newest technology, but it’s more like a mixed bag.

Went to Roppongi tonight because well… some people suggested it.
It sucks.
Don’t go there if you ever come to Tokyo.
It looks cool, but I was talking to this dude who owned a club there and well… it’s going down hill. I hung out for a while anyway, but man. Sucks.
Review coming soon.
So informative Jim!!
I’ll know exactly how to plan a trip to Japan if necessary!
Keep ‘em coming! Love the video diaries.
Nice ray bans btw.
